How To Create A Digital Vision Board

One of the biggest goal-setting assets I’ve used in the past is a vision board.  I’ve even hosted vision board parties at my home for the last couple of years. My husband and I recently relocated a few months ago, and we will not be able to host a party this year.

I needed a way to still create a new vision board for my goals this year, but I knew I wouldn’t have time to put a physical one together.

*light bulb moment*

Why not create a digital vision board?!  It turned out to be so unbelievably simple and easy.  I can even make it a background on my laptop or cell phone as a constant reminder of my vision for my life.

So let’s jump right into it!

I’ve found Canva to be the easiest site to use for all of my graphic needs, and I will be using the site today to create my vision board.

Step One: Start curating images that represent your goals

There are a couple ways to do this, but the simplest way is by creating a secret Pinterest board that will allow you to save pictures and quotes that represent your goals.

Look back over your goals and search for images that will excite you, motivate you, and remind you of your why.

Think about your top priorities:  Family, Spirituality, Career, Home, etc.  Find images to represent all of these things!

You can either find images on Google or create a Pinterest board with the images you plan to use. Once you are satisfied with the images, create a folder on your computer to save the images you plan to use.

Step Two: Open a new design in Canva

If you don’t have a free Canva account, you can create one here.  Trust me, you’ll thank me later!

Once you’re signed in, you’ll want to click “Create a Design,” and choose the US Letter or whatever template you like. If you plan on printing your vision board, you can also choose the upper right option to use custom dimensions.

Step Three: Import your images into Canva

Select “Uploads” on the left panel followed by “Upload your own images” to begin the process.

Step Four: Choose a layout and create your board

While that’s finishing up, let’s think about the layout of our vision board. You can do this two different ways. Canva has lots of pre-made photo grids to choose from under the Elements category.

Don’t see one you love? No problem!  You can also just start dragging and resizing images to your liking. This is my favorite option because it allows you to create a truly unique board.

Step Five: Keep it somewhere you’ll see it regularly

You can either print it out, frame it, or save it to your desktop or phone.  Remember out of sight…out of mind!  The whole purpose is to create a visual representation of your goals that will keep you on track and allow you to refocus on what matters most.

Remember to save your vision board! Our goals change throughout the year, and you can always go back in and adjust your board as you see fit.

Most importantly, have fun!

Happy planning!
